ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

This position is accountable for planning and implementing training programs to provide an adequate supply of trained aides to meet field service needs and to meet contractual requirements.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

This position reports to the Administrator and/or Director of Clinical Services.  Reporting to this position is the Assistant Training Instructor.

The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, coordinate and monitor all training classes for the agency.  In addition, plans and conducts teaching assignments for aide training.  Tests training program participants, evaluates their performance at the end of the training and completes required documentation on all forms, including supervised clinical experience at the home health aide level.

In conjunction with the Administrator plans, coordinates and implements aide inservice training programs.  Retains outside speakers, when appropriate, for specific topics.  Maintains attendance records as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires an RN currently licensed to practice in New York State, with two years experience, at least one year of which must be in the provision of home care services. A BSN and experience in teaching or training responsibilities is preferred. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required. Comprehensive good human relations and communications skills are required by the nature of this position.

This position requires the completion of health examination and required tests/immunizations.  The completion of annual health assessment thereafter to certify that the incumbent is free of communicable disease and physically capable of performing assigned duty.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Assures a qualified aide field staff through training programs sponsored by CareGivers
  2. Provides coordination of aide training program through planning, conducting and monitoring of training classes.
  3. Assists in planning and coordinating required inservice programs.
  4. Maintains required documentation of participants in training programs and inservice programs as required by CareGivers and federal, state and local regulations.
  5. Other responsibilities relating to training, and/or inservice as may be requested and under the direction of the Administrator.

Essential Functions of the position include:

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time while instructing students. Ability to demonstrate good body mechanics.

Ability to demonstrate required skills for the delivery of personal care and housekeeping tasks, e.g. transfer; positioning; mechanical lifts and use of a variety of equipment.
